It was a superb weekend, the company and the weather were excellent and so was the fishing.

Tope are a lot like PIKE - save they are bigger and a lot stronger - they don't mind if the bait is less than fresh ( I caught on 2 day old mackeral that had gone soft and smelly ).

They will hit a bait time and again if you pull it out of thier mouth on the strike.

The one I caught yesterday cut through my line above the leader ( I had it too short :( ) but an hour later I boated the fish and removed the old trace with the bait still attached.

I have learned so much this last 3 days and if I get half a chance I will be back this or next weekend to have another go for a BIG one.

Well done guy's. Some stunning pics there.

As for weight estimate there is a proven way to get a good fix just by measuring the girth and length and doing a few sums.

I have a copy of the chart somewhere which saves bringing a calculator and will post it up once found.

Cant wait for the 10th now to get into some action myself.

1 on the lure is worth 2 from the bait.

Superb,truly superb. :clap2:

Does this mean that Nifty has landed the biggest fish ever caught from a kayak in Britain?

I am in awe,

It was indeed a great trip and good to meet up (and have a drink or three) with both old faces and new. I managed to land 5 x Bass, on fly, with the largest going around 4½lb. Someone else has the shot on their camera. The camp site was excellent and even the weather played ball for the most part , with Friday being the best day.

A few shots of the gathering, Yak stylee...
