The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

If they're classed as illegal migrants in the UK aren't they also illegal in France ? and if so why isn't France deporting them back to where the hell they come from asap rather than letting them stay where they are and then whinging at the UK when they act up?

She's certainly right when she says this,

“There has not been a message from the British Government saying ‘This is not el Dorado’.

“If it is not true you need to be saying it very loudly and clearly in our country and across and throughout Europe.”

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Why should it be France's job (and expense) to prevent asylum seekers entering the UK?

Contrary to popular belief, most asylum seekers don't cross Europe to get to the UK

France already takes almost twice as many asylum seekers than the UK does.

Let us not also get confused between asylum seekers and illegal immigrants.

All,

In perspective (Daily Mail) """UK is Europe's top destination for immigrants: We attract twice as many as France""""

Worthy of a comment at least.

Phone

In 2013 France took in 46,000 asylum seekers, the UK figure was 23,000.

Pretty poor reporting, even for the Daily Mail

"In the UK, a bigger portion of welfare is funded by the state than is the case in Poland, France, Germany or the Netherlands. In those countries, more is funded from individual and employer contributions with benefits more closely linked to previous earnings."

I thought the rules were that asylum seekers had to claim asylum in the first safe country they came to now if thats the case (and i admit I'm not sure whether it is or not) and these people in calais are asylum seekers from Africa then France is going to be the first safe country they get to (dependent upon the route they took) hence they should be claiming asylum in France therefore it is Frances job to accept them (or feck them off) not the UKs

If they come from Africa then France would certainly not be the first country they come to.

Until they actually ask for asylum they are not asylum seekers, you could call them refugees.

Many countries in Europe take more refugees than the UK.

I am sure that France would like to fek them off. How about they fek them off to the UK? That's where they want to go so it should be pretty easy to persuade them.
