Hiya Paintfly.

I dont know if Specimen does the same as me!

But I use a host site.I do my post add a picture then post it.If I have lots to post,i will keep pressing 'add reply' that way it just adds more pics to your first post.

I dont know if thats the right way of doing it.But that is what I do

Hiya Zippy, Yeah thanks, I know about that. But what's the advantage of using a host site? Can you post more Kbs of image in total (global limit) are you still limited to 100 Kb per image?

At the moment, I have to remember where I posted images, so I can go back and delete them when I reach my global limit. Is that what everyone else does?

Paintly, I use the webspace provided by my ISP to host images (and any other files). The advantage of using a host site or your own webspace is that you will not be as restricted as the global limit imposed here.

Instead of adding images here as an attachment, upload them to a host site such as photobucket or some personal webspace and add them to a post by clicking on the image icon (small tree) then copy in the link to the image.

Martin - offer up the rivet alongside the drill (before you put it in the drill chuck) - use a drill the same size as the rivet (thickness). That way you get a hole JUST big enough to push the rivet through.

When you have drilled the first hole, try pushing a rivet through with your fingers - not too hard. If there is no way it is going through get the next size drill up. Re-drill your first hole (the hole will keep the new drill central). Put the cleat over the hole, push your rivet througha nd leave it ther - just to hold your cleat steady. DONT use the rivet gun yet.

Now line the cleat up with where you want it to be. Put the drill through the fixing hole in the cleat. Drill your hole. You now have two perfectly aligned holes for mounting your cleat. You can take the cleat off, tidy up a bit, put a blob of gooo on each hole - and a bit on the bottom of the cleat is a good idea too. Push the rivets through the cleat - now mount the entire kit and kaboodle onto your holes and press the rivets through. The silicon mess will keep everythig in place. Use the rivet gun to pull the rivets tight. Job Done - open a beer and congratulate yourself on the first fine mess I've got you into!!

wont the pop rivets need protection ? we used them on a boat and the salt ate them away in a few months ,on the second try we sprayed them with galvanising spray then coated them with hammerite once it was dry (a few minutes)and popped them before it dried .still there when we sold the boat years later.

I have found that using a dremmel gives so much fine adjustment to the rivet holes, and takes away the chance of having a standard drill and bit biting and going through the outer hull....as nearly did it myself fitting well nuts!
