Shimano Biocraft XTR fly rods

Has anyone had a try with the Shimano Biocraft XTR fly rods? I've just won one on Ebay (£88 with a Greys GRX reel and two lines) - its the 8wt saltwater version.

 

Does anyone know if it wil also handle a 9wt line? I aim to use it primarily for pike, but also the occaisional bit of bass / mullet fishing - should I stick to 8wt for both, or go up to a 9wt for the pike?
