I seem to rememeber reading this somewhere (possibly in one of Jim Gibbinson's books?), and that Tesco's version is the same size and recipe as the original Chum mixers.

Think its mentioned in Terry Hearn's book, havent got a local tescos so havent had chance to buy any yet but when im next in one il buy some and let you know how i get on.

Hi James,

My chosen bait for carp will depend a lot on the venue and how I’m fishing it.

My favourite way of fishing for carp is by stalking, where you can get ‘up close and personal’ with your quarry, and my preferred bait for this approach would be worm fished over a little particle mix – absolutely deadly at close range.

I also like to use a lot of natural baits, as I feel many anglers overlook them so again, I find they work very well; nuts, beans, maize, etc. You need to make sure they are well soaked and prepared properly before use though.

If I’m fishing at range, I’ll most likely use boilies. My favourite types are Snail & Shell and Shellfish B5, and I prefer fresh/frozen to shelf life.

At the moment I’m doing a lot of surface fishing for carp, so it’s dog biscuits fished on the top, I like to use Pedigree Mixer.

Tight Lines…

Julian

Otter poo!

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

My personal fav baite for Carp is double corn ,allways seems to work. But often use Pinapple boilie or source boilie.Had a good bit of luck on Halibut as well but they seem to be fizzing out.

on the venue i fish most it is mainline pracive pineapple ,activ8 or maple 8but i fish one venue where boilies wont score at all but a big lobworm will.It really depends on the venue the fish even the weather in my opinion has an impact on what the carp will take as food. But if you decide to use boilies then stick to one brand and one flavor and keep putting it in the more they see of the bait the more they will look at it as a food source hope this helps :D

Hi Ross its James from skl thanks for the reply and welcome to anglers net. Thanks to the rest of you that replied. Hope you all have a good season. :)

Regards James

i found the best bait for large carp on lakes is a chunk of crusty bread,on a size 8 hook,10 lb line direct to the hook, with a few large shot to aid casting.but moisten bread then dip it in curry powder

i use bait-bands to hold the bread.
