Shimano Beastmaster 9'6" 6 to 10 oz Uptide rod.

Hi Rustam,

I know of an angler who has recently purchased a pair of them and they seem to be quite beefy and lacking a little finesse, the same rods have had problems with the inserts to the rings popping out when a heavy fish has been attached.

I know they cost more but the Team Daiwas and Abu Pro Suverans would get my vote every time as they are both cracking rods :)

Live to fish!!

Have a look at the Grays, 'Longboat' 15/20lb, 8'6" with fully adjustable real seat, its a peach, medium/through action, very sensative tip, RR £135, seen discounted at £90. Has a life time G't, break it, pay £30 handling, and they will replace it, 'they' being Greys/Hardy. Suveran is good, but I think the Longboat has a better feel? that only applies to the Suveran uptiders, the boat rods are the best, have three, I have a pair of the Longboats as well!

The adjustable reel seat gives it a universal option like no other.

Hi CJS2,

The uptide rod is actually meant for Mahseer rather than salt water fishing.

Don't know much about fishing tackle but am not sure if the Longboat 15/20 lbs would be sufficient for bigger Mahseer.

Hi...I have a pair of team daiwa 2-8oz uptiders. lovely rods.....great fun for small bass etc(or big bass) ....but still have enough in reserve to tame the largest tope or hound. Wouldn't swap 'em for anything else. Perfect all rounder..highly recommended

Ah? dont know, although I'd be quite happy to have a 50-60lb tope on, even 70lb? and with my standard 15lb line as well.

However, now knowing the full story, I'd recomend you talk to Stan Massey at Alba Rods, he specialises in you rod requirements.
