Scrambler XT Kayak.......rigged

Yakity - Yak - u.k.

Recommended Posts

Looking very good Bill. I can tell you've worked hard on that in the planning and in making and rigging your yak.

I bet your itching to get out on it now! Plaice fishing sounds good...

Crikey I've got a long way to go on mine but I'll get there eventually.

Whats the yellow 'bucket' tethered to the back for? Looks like its some kind of anchor device or maybe its there for buoyancy reasons.

Hi Simon.

Thanks mate.

Yes cant wait to get back out there , soon , very soon :D

Takeing your time and thinking about things is good Simon, hope your rigging goes well too.

What plans have you for your rigging??

The Yellow bucket at the back , is for live bait,Sand eels-joey Mackerel, etc.

Keeps them in the water and alive.

When paddling , Im going to stick it between my legs , it holds about half its water when onboard the Yak , so drag wont be a problem , havnt used it yet, be interesting to see just how it tows behind the Yak.

Norrie used to own it, so he will be glad to see it put to use ........thanks again Norrie

Very nice too Mark :)

The 13 looks like its going to be a huge success here in the U.K.and the States.

Been some excellent write ups about it.

Be nice to rig aswell , lots of friendly surfaces to use.

What colour did you opt for?

On www.kayakfishingstuff.com there is a Fishing Kayak Comparison Chart.

Out of ten , this is how the 13 scored.

Speed 7.5

Stability 8

wieght 8

storage external 9

wieght capacity 8

Bill,

My thinking at the moment is mainly on the clothing side of things rather than rigging but I plan to follow Starvins footsteps: installing fishfinder, hatch(may go for an 8" one), making a trolley.

On the trolley front have thought of a design which folds down to fit in the larger front hatch. Was thinking of using the 'through the scupper hole' design as used by Starvin but also creating a fold up mechanism similar to that used on children push chairs..just an idea though don't know how 'doable' it is.

Thanks Pal.

OHHHHHH I think it WILL help , what self respecting Bass wouldnt want to ride on that.

They will be queing up to climb inboard and snuggle down :D

Its a known fact that "Dayglow Yellow" is a Bass hot colour:D

Sigh........victory is going to be soooooooo sweet. :P

Bill. :)
