Leon, For years up here, there have been guys knocking on front doors, and calling into pubs, trying to sell "Fish".....most of which, aint even any good for bait.....usually a fiver for 3 or 4 tiny fillets.....

As above for Yorks. wolds villages saw some once "prime Whitby cod" looked like tired, small ling flaps.

Always travel in an unmarked, non-discript van of sorts but they must get sales caus as Nor said its been going on for ages. As someone who has been involved with the meat industry for years I can say that if it was "prime Yorkshire beef" being touted about the practice would have been stopped in its tracks.
