as regards j.d smart, i could'nt agree with you more mate. he saw me playing a mullet off a road bridge once, pulled along side and said are you in, i said looks like it [rod bent double and clutch screaming like a banshee]hang on he said il pull over their and get me camera, on arriving the fish decided it did not want a picture taken so with another fast run it slipped the hook, he did'nt get a picture but hey thats fishing, but that was j.d always endevouring to get a great angling shot, and he and he's committment to great angling journalism are sadly missed.

Hi Stavey,

I never fish a three hook trace, single or double and mainly small baits.

If I am going for gold I use a single 24" clipdown trace which I make up with a 4oz lead. I use a gripper in heavey to medium seas and a plain rocket for lighter seas.

When I fish close in I use 2 to 3oz sliding lead depending on surf and a three to four foot flowing trace. This is my favourite method.

With the flood tide on Cefyn Sidan a short cast is ok, having made the cast within 10 mins you have walked back 40 or 50 yrds. You get the best of both worlds like this. :D

I fish, I catches a few, I lose a few, BUT I enjoys. Anglers Trust PM
