In reality, for the u k they never went away, for at least the third year running, now showing in the millions. Have the take ban geezers got it right?

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because  they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Barry,

Is there an "in depth" version of this article?  Seems to me that ain't news.  Billions would be news.

much better than the claim that they are depleted in the u k by 98% and every single one counts I would have thought.

barry,

The plot thickens.

The one million plus are all arriving Monday night is one blob.  (Maybe Parrett River?).  The river is such the eels will die as they cannot get upstream.  Well meaning Tree huggers are going to assist and move them. (I'd help if I could)

Equal numbers or more are expected in early April on the (maybe Severn?).

Best in 30 years.

This would be the "class" of 2005. (that's a question from me - nothing from literature)?

The huggers will use any excuse they can think of to suggest the eel stock is falling off the cliff, only 50 counted at the top end of the thames for example. Yet they won't want to advertise the amount of eel returning btw. Yet year in year out there are millions of elvers showing. Haven't seen any reports from the severn yet but I have no doubt they are there or arriving.

The best thing was when the angling take ban was brought in, the very first spring after TAT and co pushed for the ban was the amount of angling reports on the eel captures. That's the ones returning phone, those reports never diminished. So to suggest that the eels cannot get to where they want to go is a bit misleading. One of the green guys even used a foto to show them wriggling over grassy fields. Remember it well.

:clap3: I agree that if the eels were in danger of extinction there should be a ban on taking them, what I didn't agree with was anglers being banned from taking a few for the table while the commercials could take millions of eels and elvers to sell and re-stock Irish loughs, "because they had a licence". Surely the ban should have banned those that took the most for profit, not those that took the least for their table.
