I can see this catching on.

One boat that can be transported on top of a car and any swimming pool, harbour or section of canal and you have a spectator sport.

What would give it more zest is huge metal flails at each end of the pool

I can see this catching on.

It beats Synchronized Swimming.

I used to work with the former coach of the British Synchronized Swimming team. I was her manager on a project.

It does nothing for me though. It's firmly in the strange "sports" category along with rhythmic gymnastics, race walking (AKA mincing) and hurling.

Indeed it does, its the same principle as arm wrestling or tug-o-war .

 

Ken mentions hurling - I have seen a game or two of that and have nothing but respect for someone catching a ball in his hand a split second before an opponent flails at the same ball with what looks like a shillelagh.
