Rod Action A20?

I've seen actions and numbers on rod like this a few times when looking at older rods. Does anyone know how the rating works and what the number mean?

This rod has it.

With many makes the letter refers to the action, A being tip to D meaning through.

20 refers to the casting weight in grams.

Thus A20 should mean a typical match rod.

Exactly as Steve has already said.

I remember Shakespeare also used this notation to distinguish rod actions and casting weights in their catalogues.

If you missed that one, this seems a bargain.
