The Angling Trust wants to see bass stock recovery raised as a General Election issue and is urging anglers to contact their local candidates to seek pledges of support for ‘a fair, balanced and proportionate’ package of measures that targets commercial fishing practices that are doing the most harm to the UK’s most popular saltwater sportfish.

"This weekend saw the imposition of a three fish bag limit on recreational fishing by the EU with the support of the UK government."

Er yes, and just remind us all who was asking HMG for bag limits on RSA!

"Angling Trust Parliamentary Briefing – Update on Bass Stocks
November 2014
Parliamentary support needed for bass stocks
Bass stocks are in deep trouble. This update briefing seeks to provide arguments and information for Parliamen-tarians prepared to raise the issue at Westminster, and with ministers, to make the case for meaningful conserva-tion measures to avoid a stock collapse....

....The UK has been consistently unwilling to take unilateral action to protect bass in UK waters..
However, more recent correspondence now appears to accept the case for taking action in respect of UK territorial waters. This was re-iterated by Fisheries Minister George Eustice at the Angling Summit last month with a pledge to look again at the minimum landing size.....
....Raising the minimum legal size for bass is, in itself, not the single answer to protecting and restoring the UK’s bass fishery; a fully inclusive package of measures is also needed on top of the EU proposals including:.....

Introducing bag limits for recreational anglers and a consideration of slot size limits to protect bigger, more fertile, trophy fish from unnecessary harvesting."

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

TAT don't not have any facts what so ever justifying their actions that they are taking against both anglers and the commercial sector in the u k, they are an absolute disgrace. They haven't even had the courtesy to consult or ask for a mandate for the action they have taken, bl@@dy disgusting. One of the most revered charter skippers on the south coast is spitting nails over this rubbish and would like to see this shat challenged in court.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..
