New drier Yaks for 2007 ...

Some drysuits come with socks built in some don't. Worth buying a drysuit with socks built in - buying one without socks kind of defeats buying the drysuit in the first place - with socks built in wet feet will be a thing of a past and its easier to keep them warm. Socks will either be latex or material like goretex or nylon depending on the brand and model.

You'll still need to wear boots or shoes over the socks though. Once you've upgraded to a drysuit the wet ass issue will be a thing of the past.

The dry suit zip can be made to glide easier using beeswax or ziplube designed for them. It may be worth trying a few different types of drysuits on if you found you're movement was hampered + did you try a suit in the next size up?

Hi Vol,

I have a Gul Ion dry suit , i'm 6' and 16.5 stone , the front zip is no problem, once you have a PFD on it is hardly even noticeable.............i notice you said 'life jacket' a PFD would allow you more movement and be less restrictive.

Give the chap at http://www.wetsuitoutlet.co.uk/index.php?cPath=28 a call he's very helpfull and will suggest something i'm sure.

Dave ;)

Vol did you try a pfd over the suit? I have the hyperdry front zip and once my pfd is on I dont even realise its there, and after a bit of use it does soften up slightly. I got the one with latex socks and neoprene seals and its very very comfortable and easy to get on and off, at £200 from wetsuit outlet it's a bargain in my eyes. The only niggle is that mine is not so good with my pull over pfd so I have to use my zip up one. Another £25 for boots and your good to go. I am the same sort of size as you 6'2" 17st.

1 on the lure is worth 2 from the bait.

Where can you get ziplube from?

Beeswax or even good old candle wax is fine if done regularly.

You dont half drone on!

Try any decent DIY store or candle shop. Or any Apiarist (close) near you. :D
