How a fulltimer could survive on that I don't know, but at least it'll keep the wrecknetters away this summer!

I doubt that, it just means that the under 10 meter boats will dump (discard) the cod and only land the Pollock.

I heard that Elizabeth Stevenson, fleet owner and holder of a large part of the over 10 meter sw cod quota is selling it all to the Spanish.

I fish to live and live to fish.

Apparently the wrecknetters are able to target the cod and pollack differently, but yes, they will dump the cod (not that there's many these days). :schmoll: I also heard that they use tangle/trammel nets around the wrecks for monks/turbot/sole instead when the cod quota isn't sufficient to warrant netting the wrecks themselves. Having said all that, the quota will probably change again next week!

Everyone (commercials and GSF) believes this to be the case, and given the diversity of methods employed by the boats I'd agree. There's possibly more licensed 'weekend' boats than fulltimers who I guess would fish fulltime if they could make any money. Each boat has it's own 'patch', and anyone encroaching on someone else's patch tends to get 'spoken to'.

As to quotas - the local boats tend to fish for 'non-quota' species so aren't really affected by quotas. Our fleet catches turbot, brill, bass, red mullet, pollack, conger, tope, huss and blonde ray mainly, with crabs & lobsters for the potters. Having said that, I might even be affected, my cod quota is now 50kilos a month for most of this year!!! How a fulltimer could survive on that I don't know, but at least it'll keep the wrecknetters away this summer!

Do you know what Toerag, this is where the rsa perception of things kick into over drive when it's continually heard that, there's no money in it, life's a bitch, the stock ain't there cause every one has caught them all etc, etc, etc, Where is the real evidence that as the take has increased, the situation is on a knife edge, or is it all percieved i wonder. What has the local sfc said about the situation? If anyone is in business and does not make money, should they be in business. I certainly would not put up with it. Cheers

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..
