Also, if you press contacts in the link it refers to a mr arnold locker as president?

The usual procedure is to stand as chairman for two years and move up to president, with a tenure of a further two years.

Arnold was chairman in 2003 and 2004, he then moved to president in 2005 and 2006, with Elizabeth Stevenson as chairman, she is now president for 2007 and 2008, with Nommy chairman for the same period. Fred will replace elizabeth stevenson as president at the end of her tenure.

Challenge have you read the last para on that link you have provided. If so whats your take on the issue where they are discussing overturning of the mls bass size, to bring it back to the child molesting 36cm? Its not for the anglers benifit the size is to go up but for the conservation of the stock surly. What i have read there is disgusting in my eyes.

Also, if you press contacts in the link it refers to a mr arnold locker as president?

Glennk, just read your link where it was something to do with fraud? Approximately third of a mil.

Not quite sure fraud was the right word. But it was nearly half a million over only a 12 week period. If local rumours were right and this had gone on a lot longer than 12 weeks then one wonders what the figures could be.

Has anyone got a link to the origional submission by BASS to defra. during the bass consultation? Thanks. Any one got any evidance of discard possibility with regards to using a 100mm section net.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

BASS's Bass Management Plan:

http://ukbass.com/bassmanagementplan/index.html

The Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) which accompanied the DEFRA Bass MLS Consultation Document, and the document itself, are no loger available on the DEFRA website, so you need to contact DEFRA for copies.

whats the course of action from SACN then Leon ?

Like I said above - am I naive or is all not lost ? Obviously I don't expect you to say too much.

The position is that new information has been given to DEFRA (probably relating to discards).

DEFRA feel that they need to look at that information in detail before coming to a final decision.

And there isn't any easy way of finding out what's behind it, or when a decision will be made and what the decision is likely to be. (But naturally it's hard not to speculate, but in the absence of solid information, one guess is as good as any other. People are trying to dig out some facts by various means).

Once the decision, and the reason for that decision is announced, then it will be possible to take a view and decide where to go from there (very, very frustrating).

Of course DEFRA will be expecting protests, and all that can be done for now is to fulfil that expectation.

(Now if they get protests from tens of thousands of anglers, that might rock them!)

They were probably surprised by the chairman of a supposedly large regional angling organisation accompanying the commercials, and speaking against any increase in the bass mls, which was probably a significant factor in considering DEFRA's options.

You can imagine that there are a number of people on that case.

As much as I am against some of the contents of the rsa strategy I am bemused as to why anglers would be against this separate issue. I can't understand where they are coming from. Have you any ideas what the thinking is of these people ? I've read a lot on here and elsewhere and I've listened to a few people and by and large haven't heard any complaints.

There are some anglers unhappy with indirect effects of the wider BMP upon their fishing experience (for example I was concerned that bag limits for bass seemed to be becoming bag limits for every fish). But with regards to the minimum landing size issue I heard few complaints.

I would consider myself a neautral on this issue but because I saw it as favourable to some anglers (so long as it didn't effect other groups) I supported it. There were also many anglers who are passionate about bass who backed it 100%.

There were a few anglers angered by the fact the bmp seemed to bring the spotlight onto angling and blaim this for DEFRA starting to discuss bag limits and licences and bait digging restrictions. Maybe this is what is driving them.

I guess only time will tell.

I Hope for the many bass anglers who love their sport you manage to get things sorted, it seems a bit late in the day to let it go to ruin because the commercials cant bare things to be beyond their control.

If I remember correctly the Weymouth association opposed the rise as 'there wouldn't be any bass landed big enough for our anglers to take home to eat'. Perhaps that's what it is - people believe that there are no bass bigger than 40cm?

As an aside, according to the BASS website, current bass growth rates are 3-4cm per year, so it won't take long for the 36cm fish to hit 40cm - they may even be there already.

Also see comments from The Doc and Wurzel - posts 130 and 131 (I think) in the discards thread.
