fishing for carp while they spawn?

They used to be protected by the closed season, but alas these days they don't get a moment's peace :(

The close season was dropped because 99.99% of the time the fish started to spawn after it finished anyway.

well last week the lake baliffs were fishing from the night time till the next day until about 1pm and they came out with 17 carp between them

Ask them then..........................

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

I think y'missing the point here !!!!

It's really down to YOUR morals and priciples matey. We're not saying you WON'T catch, in fact it sounds like the carp in your lake are still on the scoff and not yet quite ready to spawn (doubt they've finished!!!). At the end of the day it's up to you but heed well the wise words of wisdom you've received from this forum and think twice before going. Unless of course you simply want to put fish on the mat at ALL cost and without caring a flying fig for their well-being.

I'm going on a recce of my lake tonight because fish were showing signs of spawning last weekend and if they are actively rampant and getting their fins over I for one will not be chucking a rig this weekend and maybe not even next.

Have a break mate, and look forward to the BIG scoff up they'll have when they're done "humping"

One good reason to do something is better than a thousand bad excuses not to.

I very much doubt that is the case henda. The water was way too cold mid may for spawning (depending on where you are in the country and your weather of course).

Around here they gathered to spawn very early in the year due to the warm april we had, then they buggered off again as thecold and rain came and chilled the water off again.

They've been spawning here for little over a week so maybe another week to go at the outside.

If you set off now, you might get back from the boillie shop just in time to catch em on the post spawning nosh up!

P.S. If you fill out your profile (age location etc) it might help people tailor their answers to you a little better.

Given the choice of a bit of grub or getting their fin over, they go for the latter every time :D

Fin over? A bloody long way to travel for a bit of the other, mate! I hope she's worth it.

This one's to be avoided..it's got the clap. :clap2:

This is a signature, there are many signatures like it but this one is mine

Steady on! I walk around earlswood most evenings and its rammed with people right now, and there are matches on too.

Give the lad a break.....he's young and wants to catch fish.

I wonder how many posters on AN have been fishing in the past month? My guess is pretty much everyone therefore we are all guilty of fishing for spawning fish.
