School holiday, okay so the weather is total turd, but where are the kids? On my home ground I would normally see scores of 'em fishing, access is easy, but this year it seems the young 'uns have hung up their rods. There were more fishing in the close season than there are this summer!

As you say Peter the weather is a "total turd". It was warmer in May than it is now. I'm not sure we are having a summer.

 

Looking out of the window this morning I can see the appeal of staying in bed with the Xbox controller.

Probably social mederising ,lost count of kids on phones texting the kid next to them and the amount of drivers texting is amazing as i watch waiting for the bus.

Even yesterday a chap was fishing but using a tablet on facebook ,how any of them can afford the cost of the monthly plans i could use up the data quota watching youporn in a few hours!

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

 

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

I have seen a fair few kids fishing one of the pits on my club ticket. A mixed species venue with plenty of features and tonne of weed and clear water, it holds Carp but most seem to be targeting the Roach, Rudd, Crucians and plenty of yelps of excitement when they land a big 3 or 4lb Bream. There are plenty of Carp pools on the ticket. So despite what some claim not all youngsters and those new to fishing are hurded down the Carp route. You pays your money and makes your choice.

Peter,

 

I am just plain cynical. Average age of freshwater sports fisherman in the US is now 49. I forget what the "investment" number was but I do remember it was almost 5 figures (avg).

 

If you are 49 your kids are either in or out. Probably out IMO
