Windows 10

Windows 10 released tomorrow.

I am perfectly happy with W7 so is it a good idea to upgrade now or wait and see what revisions and patches are likely to be released on W10 first?

Been a while now ive been running linux (ubunu) as my main OS and im very happy with it. Only 1 issue is photoshop not working on the emulator for windows programs so i do now have dual boot with win xp just for photoshop.

Soon as photoshop works on emulator xp will he removed and ill never look back.

Windows sucks.

windows 10 is fine...and for free a bit of a no brainer!

however the rumour is that MS are going to stagger the release for a few weeks/months...

so that a few people have the upgrade, then patches are made, then a few more people get it, then more patches etc etc

ive not found any cold hard facts regarding how that system might work...but in all honesty a free OS upgrade...its a no brainer really

its free for a few months so you can afford to wait until patches and glitches are sorted.

Andy

I have fancied trying Linux for a while, just for comparison's sake. What has put me off is that when I have read about it or had a look at it I get the impression you need to have a better knowledge of computing than I possess.

I also do a lot of work in Serif software which will probably not work on Linux.

How would I go about getting a working version of Linux on the PC so I can try it out. I do have a spare HDD in the machine.

God damn it. Typed up a massive reply on phone. Selected all text to copy it and hit the keboard instead, all gone!!!

Basically i was saying you can install linux to a usb stick (live usb) that runs from usb only without affecting your current operating systems and hard drives. Unplug it and start pc and your back in windows like nothing happened

Ill type up something better later.

Hi Andy

I inserted the pen and downloaded the USB installer.

Selected UBUNTU

It then said to browse for your ISO file. I can't find an ISO file. Od]F course, not knowing what an ISO file is doesn't help. I did say in needed more knowledge than I have.

Heeeeeellpp
