Not quite sure how they expect to patent them if they are made of glass. It has been documented that glass weights were used for fishing in the Colne valley back in the 1980's....and I'm not to sure I like the inferences that lead causes damage to the fishing environment..........

 

AND another thing :) :) at £2.50 a throw, they have got to be joking :)

Same here and the fact that I can buy 5 leads for that price off a local guy and in various textures/colours to suit the lake bed and I don't think these new ones will increase my catch rate enough to pay that price.

As for the enviroment, how about all the extra heat/power/energy to melt glass, rather than the lower melting point of lead??????.

I also note that this product plays on the damage lead does to birds, swans and the environment. It is not good when say a swan swallows lead shot, but 2 ounce weights? It,ll never get off the ground. As lead comes from the ground, lost, it returns to the ground, what problem does that cause, i ask. Again this product makes a play on other goverments banning lead for this and that reason but i would like to see some hard evidance to that effect. It might just be all emotive nothing in my mind. Wonder if they invent 2lb glass weights so i can take em on a boat and use, as them 2lb lead weights ain,t half heavy. :rolleyes:

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

they're hardly invisible they distort the lake bed plain ol lead after being left outside still the best or use stones if you that bothered

 

Will you also get a prism effect in clear water and sunlight?? so you get some nice prety colours of the spectrum and will they act as a mirror, so a carp can see a reflection of it's self in the glass weight??

It doesnt look like glass to be honest and if it is the carp care brigade should be up in arms what if it chips lovely sharp edges to cut fish line etc.

Next piont what happens when they start to wear? a lovly opaque finish mm

If they are not glass, then what are they, plastic, silicon ??? if so then they can't claim they are enviromentaly freindly, as a lake full of plastic etc is hardly natural and it isn't bio degradable.

Good point about chips being sharp noodle.

Might get some for the other half, they would make a nice set of ear rings :rolleyes:

i tried breakaway leads as ear rings but it made me look like a vampire had attacked
