INSTITUTE OF FISHERIES MANAGEMENT
Thames Tideway Foreshore Events

– September 19th & 20th, 2015

Twenty years ago, seine netting demonstrations of fish life were a popular component of many environmental educational events along the tidal Thames. Following a successful trial at Bankside last September, IFM are now re-launching that support. This coming weekend, we will be providing seine netting demonstrations as part of larger elements of the Thames Festival.

On Saturday 19th September, we will be supporting Dr Fiona Haughey, Director of Archaeology on the Thames Project, with Firing on the Foreshore, an illuminated history of this part of the river. We will be conducting seine netting sessions at Bankside from 11am until 4pm as part of the event and manning a stand together with colleagues from Thames 21.

On Sunday 20th, we will be supporting Tidefest with seine netting demonstrations up at Strand on the Green between 12-3pm and manning a stand with Thames 21. For further details of Tidefest, which has activities at a range of sites along the river, check the website at www. thamestidefest.net.

If you want to see some life in the old river yet, do come and see us, and join in if you wish!
