I know it's been made to look old but those scratches on the bottom of the backplate arn't part of the finnish.

Nope! I'll watch to see what it makes but the performance of my latest acquisition has really got me wondering whether I need the aerial ‘pins that I’ve got let alone another one. Just wrestling with the idea of listing a couple of reels on e-bay myself.

Well, I can understand pins as high value counters in an investment portfolio, but £600-plus for a trotting reel (if it is to be used as such) seems a bit OTT.

 

My old Aerial cost me about half-a-dollar (part of a house clearance £5 lot of a dozen rods and as many bags of tackle - an artist's easel was also included, which I sold on to get my fiver back) I see a similar reel asks for bids over £500 ! The Aerial, an Avon Supreme and an Okuma Sheffield is as many as I want - let the Merlin go to the Wingham auction last year.

That's insane, especially as he makes those floats now and charges about six notes each LOL.

If the weather eases off we'll have to get out for a session or two before the season ends :).
