Cats

Anyone got any idea how to stop cats doing their toilet business on my newly planted conifers.

The filthy buggers have done so much dumping and urinating on one its decided to die ! 1 on me.

Filthy bloody things :hammer: :hammer:

Ive heard that putting plastic bottles filled with water scares the filthy buggers away ? the larger ones that hold 3ltrs or so ?

Nothing will work except ground cover ,if theres no fresh soil to crap in then unless its the boundary of a territory they wont crap ,not bark as it rots but anything else will do even that black fabric if you can ignore it

You can buy motion sensing squirters which look like fun or hide in the bushes with one of your own it wont stop the. For long but great fun

Magpies are my bane ,if we put the tent up they try to destroy it ,cats are easy in comparison

Ps compared to dogs cants are clean at least they attempt to bury their crap ,dogs dump and run or rip up your lawn with that end of crap scratching thing some do.

Try badgers they destroy our lawn in the spring ,cats are easy

I used to lay chicken wire flat on the ground over my veg seed drills, it stopped most of it, cos they can't scratch the ground up.

They definitely don't like water - next doors cat used to raid my large swing-top kitchen bin which kept is just outside the back door. I got two old 10 litre paint tubs and filled them with water and then balanced a piece of 2 X 1 batten about 3'0" long on top of the bin with one bucket balanced at each end.

After a very satisfying commotion outside the back door on the first night the bin has since remained un-raided without any booby traps.

Strangely enough, most people would agree that conifers are "Filthy bloody things" but if you must have them, chicken wire will work, as does chopped up gorse.

water sprinklers that have a built in PIR can also be had cheaply enough - or you could just shoot 'em.

Ground cover. I save the branches from the Christmas tree to cover the veg beds with.

If you can plant something that will grow quickly and cover the ground, that will work too.

Someone mentioned that bamboo cut into small shards and pressed into the ground under the bottom will stop them from their shannigans also ?
