You must have too much money Chesters ;) , when the MKII's came out about 15yrs back (I think) they retailed at £399. I can't remember how much the Team Normarks where that preceded them but I think they where similarly priced. Any earlier ones than that and I haven't got a clue how much they cost.

Far from it and perhaps 30 years ago things were different ,i am sure there was a set amount i set and it was a tossup between a normark something or other and a rod called a chevron match (probably a carbon composite thing) i chose the normark as i had a knife from decades before that although stainless rusted frequently if not looked after LOL

Still got the knife if its not rusted away in the loft but the kids have long got rid of their rods.

I always went the ABU route some of their glass rods are nice i have quite a few having only one carbonish one i just dont get on with carbon rods

I think most of it is in the head i loved blue match rods but on retrospect and older eyes they were nothing special but i still use my PDQ rod over anything else although i once bought a silstar (cheap of the cheap) tradition rod which was dire it also lives in the loft used less than 5 times,it just aint as good as glass

Now dont get me confused with a closed mind traditionalist i started with cane and round reels i hated both and even solid glass and the basic fixed spool far superior in my eyes ,i still keep a couple of cane rods as souvenirs a chapman the shelford and a hardy victor? But they stay i doors both they and my crappy centerpin i took a 2lb hammer to are obsolete in my mind as no doubt my tried and tested glass and abu 500 series to modern eyes but i like em and thats good enough for me

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong
