Out walking the dogs through a scrub / rocky area last night. Came around a bend in the track to come face to face with a very large, mean looking, wild boar. Luckily the nutty dog was on a lead and the quiet one is no bother anyway.

We stood and looked at each other for 15-29 seconds (felt like longer) and the the boar moved off and I started breathing again.

On the way home came face to face with a confused British driver going round a roundabout the wrong way.

Don't know which worried me most.

The boar ,he has no road to stick to ,bacon on the hoof ,gun next?

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

My father had a close encounter while walking his dogs about 1o years ago.

the dogs were getting very worked up about "something" in the bracken on the other side of the stock fence that formed the side of the path. As he walked up and looked over, the "something" that appeared to be a very, very large cat started growling at him.

Dad shoots and beats regularly and sees plenty of deer, muntjacks, the very occasional wild pig etc but had never seen anything like this. He backed away very quickly and called the dogs to him at which point, the something bolted off.

He never did get a clear look at it, just an impression through the bracken.

:clap3: I understand that there are now so many illegally introduced boars in the Forest of Dean that they are organising a cull of 600 as wolves are in short supply to keep the numbers down naturally. Kidderminster isn't too far from the Forest of Dean is it? :clap3:

It's a fair way south of here.

I have seen one wild pig on the train embankment at Blakedown but that was the only one I've ever seen.

There were also apparently train delays at Droitwhich a few years ago caused by pigs on the line.

I suspect that a lot of things are more widely distributed in the UK than most people think, Pine Martins turned up in Staffordshire without anyone realising their range had expanded, big catfish turn up in rivers, otters have recolonized most of England but few people have ever seen one and who knows what big pussies are on the loose.

A lot of boar have been released by animal rights activists in recent years, with one farmer having to shoot some of his after they proved uncatchable. Since they breed happily in the UK, there are now hundreds (thousands?) of the buggers roaming around.

Still, wild boar meat is rather tasty e030.gif

2 bores looking at each other and a foooooooooooookin foreigner that don't know how to drive, sounds a good script for a film :icecream::icecream::icecream:

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Just hope they don't feel the same way about you when you meet them on the path
