multitasking

Can any male member on here multitask ? I am wondering this because if I am reading something say on the forum, I cannot concentrate on what I am reading if my wife talks to me .My wife thinks I should be able to do both as she says she can talk to me when she is knitting.

Actually, it's a bit of a myth. You can hold a conversation while doing another highly ingrained activity like walking, or driving or knitting, but you can't actually concentrate on two activities at once - even if you do happen to have two X chromosomes.

I can multitask just not at the same time ,generally to achieve something easy i have several tasks that pop up that have to become completed before it ends

 

I sometimes watch myself on the cctv to see why something took so long to do ,i am easily distracted and start doing something before i realise what i was supposed to be doing

 

I start to paint the shed ,loose bit of wood get nails, realise theres nothing to nail it to ,look closer the joist has broken ,empty shed ,drag shed out so i can see the problem ,two days later shed has been reconstructed ,refelted and pushed back in ,stuff put back in ,paint it ,everything i do has more hurdles than a large number of hurdles ,the best part i found where the damn mice were getting in lets see them chew through angle iron

You need to develop the notion of a failing memory, it's then perfectly acceptable for your memory to be erratic, (or at least appear to be erratic whenever it suits).

 

My wife talks to me (sometimes) when I'm at the PC, I just have to remember that simple fact and ask her to remind me later what she wanted/said.

I can read a book, drink a coffee, smoke a fag and take a dump all at the same time. At least I could when I was at sea.
