A battery warning

We know a certain phone makers new phone battery catches fire but other ones can and do aswell.

I am sure you know more and more torches etc can use 18650 batteries and the real things are expensive things so dont buy anything from overseas (or even here because they just probably buy cheap and sell it for a large profit) trying to get a bargain

The reason is these batteries if fake or mistreated are firelighters and even bombs ,the pukka ones have vent holes to stop them exploding and internal electronics to stop them catching fire !

Its been found the cheap ones fall into several catagories

Small batteries (usually nimh or nicd) inside a 18650 case ,they charge (usually) but ofcourse dont last)

18650 batteries without vents ,little bombs if the go critical

More importantly no protection circuit (some youtube chap found dead ones can come back to life if you solder the top cap (containing the electronics) to the side of the positive secondary part ,this is NOT recommended your just defeating the object of the safety mechanisms

They also do not like being in a circuit unless they are both pretty much the same charge so be careful .

I bought a headlight and it came with two batteries (with 'fire' on the label wink) both fakes one got to 800 mA on my smart charger .

I found its far safer to buy an old laptop battery pack and strip it down ,luckily the one i bought had 6 fully functional ones inside ,these ofcourse are safe if they were going to explode they would have done it years before .

Its time ebay was hauled over the coals for allowing fakes ,fake memory is bad enought but potential bombs is another

Beware you have been warned.

Ps the weight of them used to be a giveaway but the crafty chinese he put sand in to counter this flaw in fakery

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

I'm sure isis will be very pleased with this info.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

If that had been a firework, it would have been called a damp squib in the days when I still bought fireworks. :bb:

I want some bang for my buck.

(Got no idea what that smiley does/says - it just sort of looked appropriate - it's probably not)!

Thats a vented one ,just amagine if you popped to the shop whilst leaving them charging and they short circuited ,or worse still it was a chinese unprotected unvented one ,you may come home to a house thats not there

Dodgy things lithium batteries ,they are getting ridiculous now i came across one purporting to hold 9,000 mA when at the moment the best real 18650 holds about 3,400 ,just miss advertising the capacity should have them off ebay but ofcourse they turn a blind eye.

When you read about vapes catching fire i bet its a 18650 doing it

Not just charging but without the protection circuit if they have to much current drawn from them they go into a cycle where they get hotter and hotter and explode .

Just be careful with these things ,its bad enough being told i told you so but chesters1 saying it would be galling

This time chesters is 100% correct. Misused lithium batteries can be extremely dangerous. They burn with a very hot flame and the resulting fire can be very difficult to extinguish. Don't chuck water on a lithium fire ;-)

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.
