That brought back a fair bit of Nostalgia!! & thanks for posting Steven. I saw that one when I was in my teens (I'm now 60)

It was originally filmed in 8 mm or Super 8. (celluloid anyway)

Please also take a look at the Vid' which follows that one - The 1973 Woodbine Challenge (River Guden Denmark)

Makes one proud to be a Yorkshireman, & Typical Yorkshire/Northern officialdom at its best before the start of the match.

All that's missing is the Tripe, Yorkshire pudding & Mushy Peas lol - though could have been the "Packed Lunch" in the MC's speech ??

Here's another which is stereotypical of us Yorkshire folk - though we're not all like it !!!

Yes Phone & Newt - the mentality is still a bit like this (with some) in my part of the world!!

What the video of the 1973 Woodbine match takes care to hide is that the organisation of the travel was an utter fiasco with a 35lb weight limit and anglers boarding a plane in waders.

Those Roach are in poor condition, look like spent a long time in a knotted net!

Look very stressed and fin nipped to me, like they have been living in a brightly light fish tank.

I have that series on dvd and every blue moon I get it out for a watch. I used to watch it when I was a kid.

Imo Bernard needs to be taught how to use a centrepin, this clip always amazed me how hopless he was !

It gave the impression the line wouldn't run off the reel and he had to pull it off manually!

Yeah, it did, although he just didn't seem to know how to use it correctly as the reel looked as though it would have rotated on it's own easy enough. I've noticed John Bailey using a centrepin in the same fashion in a video....I suppose it shows they don't really use centrepins.
