Love the chit-chat...

All ok, now, had over 650 mm rain (26") and wind gusts to 160 kmh. Hamilton Island, 80 km north of us had 262 kmh blasts. Bowen town got the brunt and lots of dwellings lost roofing, one motel lost all their roof. Many downed power cables from Brandon (Ayr) to Sarina meant that about 39,000 people lost all power. We lost all ours and it took the authorities 7 days and 7 hours to get Ball Bay running again. Lost the contents of 3 refridgerators. Lost 1 tree and 3 banana plants. Squillions of downed tree branches, twigs and leaves. 7 days later, people are still waiting for the various councils to clear away the downed trees and debris. Lots of flooding from Ayr to south of the Qld border (1500km)

Will put up some photos later of our village and the destruction.

We were filling time waiting for your report.

Your authorities are probably quicker off the mark than here the utilties as well ,we had a generator going for three weeks because a single tree knocked the cable down lol

Hi Bob

I just knew that if my mate who lives right on Sandgate Beach was OK so would you be. His sister has a bit of flooding, I forget where she lives. Some godforsaken place but she lives in a Queenslander so the flooding is more inconvenience than damaging.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.
