Robson Green Grand Slam Fishing

Recommended Posts

Does anyone watch this? Last night he was catching shark off San Diego. They didn't land the shark, the boat skipper just had to touch the trace for it to count as landed. Then they released the shark. I couldn't quite see how they did this, but I think they left the livebait, hooks and all, in the shark. Is that normal? For other types of predator fishing it would be considered bad practice.

Didn't see the program but it seems to be pretty normal in all sorts of saltwater big game fishing, even when using stainless steel hooks that will obviously never rot out - not that a carbon steel hook that thick would break down.

It's not good and there's no excuse really. It's like the US "anglers" using gorge tactic for gar. They swim off afterwards and nobody has to think about the slow agonising death that follows.

Cannot stand the individual. Ive watched previous shows and his manhandling of fish is, to say the least, atrocious !

They are fish! We do a lot worse to things further up the food chain

The public dont give a hoot about fish if they did we would be sitting behind shutters with gangs beating on them ,if he was catching fluffy mice the program wouldnt exist.

Fish are food if he wants to chuck them back uneaten who cares hes not breaking any rules as far as i know

Found an interesting study done with motion sensing tags that suggests an 11 hour post capture recovery period for sharks and an 80% post capture survival rate.

Unfortunately, it didn't say whether the sharks tagged were released with or without the hook in situ - if it had, I would have no problem with the practice of cutting traces.
