I did. I almost dismissed it out of hand as it's Canadian and Canada is quite restrictive about what kinds of hooks can be used but it quickly clarified that the study used trebles and singles and both barbed and barbless hooks. The findings are quite surprising (particularly to anglers who regularly remove other peoples tackle from fish) but I think it would be an error to assume that the results can be applied universally.
