You know, up until now I never gave it a thought. I didn't know about the Front Nationale one until my son pointed it out to me about a year ago. Before then I had never heard of Movimento Sociale Italiano, although I did know that some of the founder members of the NF were NAZI collaborators.

That's the trouble with symbols. you can read into them whatever you want. Even if old man Le Pen adopted the flame as an homage to some of his old Nazi buddies, they're gone, he's no longer in the party and those that hold those views are no longer welcome.

 

Labour have used a red rose as a symbol for years but I'm pretty sure that they're not declaring their support for the House of Lancaster.

And not forgetting of course that the swastika itself was, is, a religious icon in multiple faiths in the Indian sub continent centuries before Hitler and his thugs bastardised it in the 1930's.

I rather like Frauke Petry, but I'm astonished that the AfD did as well as they have with some of the morons that they have on-board. I suspect that we'll be hearing a lot more of her in the future.
