When that amendment was put into the constitution, wasn't they still using single-shot rifles? Muzzle loaders perhaps? How long does it take to reload a muzzle loader, because that guy had automatic rifles capable of firing 9 rounds per SECOND.

 

Would that amendment have even been proposed had they known back then just how far firearm technology would advance? I think not.

My point is - it is a far cry to use sarcasm in disparaging remarks about carp "Queen of Sport Fish" vs British dink fishing with #22 hooks than it is couching disrespectful remarks about the fabric of a particular society in "sarcasm". That's who.

 

It is not likely you will have a remote understanding for the role of guns in America. Frankly, neither do I. However, it is equally unlikely we will dispose of 310 million guns and THREE TRILLION rounds of privately owned ammunition (47 billion military rounds were used by all sides in WWII).

Of course misinformation abounds. It may surprise you to know that, while untrue of this fellow, 40 firearms is not "unreasonable".

I have posted a multitude of examples where the US has lost touch with reality on guns, Remember the post when 300+ individuals died from separate gun crimes in one weekend in Chicago - not even front page. More recently Huge and l discussed the "gun of the year" which dispenses 6000 rounds per minute in 50 caliber

 

Again, guns are like 5 legged frogs. Evidence of a problem without being "THE" problem.

This is the 2nd amendment in it's entirety -

The more fundamental question in my mind and many many Americans is found in the phrase "A well regulated Militia". I don't think what we have is at ALL what the framers of the Constitution intended.

Phone, our Monarchy has little to do with the laws of our country, can you claim the same for your constitution?

Am I wrong in saying that those who claim/demand the right to own guns, do so because the constitution says they can?

Am I also wrong to say that many of those who are mourning the death and injury of these poor sods, also back the right to own firearms?

Why is it although people are saddened and appalled at these atrocities, few are surprised?

The latest I've heard is that this crazy man owned 40 firearms, 10 of which he took to his hotel, and used to murder nearly 60 innocent people, and injure 500 more. Tell me why anyone would need to own 40 firearms? If it's for personal protection then what the hell is he protecting himself from, the government?? We have a voting system to try and control our Government, I thought you did as well.

You accuse me of lack of respect. Respect for who?

I feel sorrow and respect for those who suffer in these situations, for those who help others injured there. I feel sorrow for the families and friends of the victims.

I feel respect for those who try to change the mad archaic laws that contribute to these tragic losses of life.

Why would someone want to own 40 firearms, well possibly because they collect them like other people collect stamps. As for the number of firearms he had in his room 10 or 10 dozen he could only fire one at a time.
