She was not looking for flies. She was looking for fruit and veg. I think you would be one of the folks that end up with the $100,000 fine.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

I rarely go to farnham nevermind over a sea ,i doubt shecould kill fruit with a gun either ,unless its used as a threat ? Hand on gun butt" come on out pear i have a bullet with your name on" nope cant see it being needed

I would be subtle ,i would drop a fly infested bit of fruit or veg (your choice) by the border with a little arrow showing where to go.do these idiots not realise fruit 'fly' is a clue they are not going to be put off by signs or shielas

Catapulting fruit over the border could vent frustration at a government who victimises flies ,i bet bluebottles are not victimised its outrageous flyism

Not tried them yet but I did manage to get seven feijoa (AKA pineapple guava) seedlings to germinate. Like most other evergreens they're slow growing but seem to be doing well so far.

I might have to pot them on at the weekend so they're a bit more resistant to drying out when it gets hot.

The stuff I was watching earlier in the year suggested that in the US, people manage to grow them outdoors as far north as Seattle.

It is but both the UK and the Seattle area have similar maritime climates. Theirs is affected by a cold current and ours by the warm Atlantic currant.

Longitude is not the whole story. Seattle is about level with Newfoundland ;-)
