"It was really close," said Vettel. "Shame Lewis had quite a big gap at the end but I guess he did another pretty good lap."

Here we go again. :)

If it wasn't for that virtual safety car (followed by the real thing) and Vettel coming in at the same time, Hamilton would have won that race. And what was happening at the Haas pits? Two identical failures with the tyre changes within a few laps?

The Kraut got lucky, it won't always happen.

Haas's problem was lack of pit stop practice and cross threaded wheel nuts.

I was busy this weekend, so decided to record the Qualifiers, and the race.

The first part went ok, but the machine didn't start recording until the 38th lap of the race. I was a bit mad about it, after the Qualifiers promised a close race. After watching what I had recorded, and reading the articles on it, I decided I hadn't missed all that much anyway. Another race won because of 'regulations', and a track that was almost impossible to overtake on, especially with the design of the modern cars.

I'll probably watch the next one, but my enthusiasm is starting to wane, and if there's no improvement I might not bother after that.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Ears not burning off makes it not worth watching!

They could make it more interesting having cutouts walking across the road ,the odd sleeping policeman that pops up unanounced and traffic lights set at undetermined times

Fluffy kittens suddenly dashing across could work as well it may draw more watchers with an enhanced sence of animal danger and writups from animal lovers etc

The trouble arosed when rules on design came in ,let them design anything to increase speed etc

Ayjay,

I hope you are not making excuses for Haas. "Lack of practice" - PPLLLLEEeeeezzzzeee

Not sure why you'd think I'm making excuses for Haas..............

................... straight from the Haases mouth:-

https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/headlines/2018/3/cross-threaded-wheel-nuts-caused-haas-double-dnf.html

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner said the wheel nuts were cross-threaded on both cars, meaning the tyre wasn’t fixed correctly before each departed their pit box.

Steiner said a combination of factors, including not enough pit stop practice, led to the problems during Sunday’s race in Melbourne.

“This weekend was very intense for us, we had issues in FP1 and FP2,” said Steiner

“We didn’t have many spares so we didn’t do a lot of practice.

“We didn’t do a lot of pit stop practice, we did the minimum"
