PB on the Pole

Hi guys & gals, I fished our club match at Moor Monkton commercial Lakes near York on Saturday & only managed to land one fish (lost 3 or 4 though) but managed a PB down the edge - in fact from behind me, almost in the grass lol!!

A Mirror, dead up 12 Lb on 8 mm Robin Red banded, hard pellet to 6 lb hook length & 18 - 22 Middy hollow elastic.

And of course the trusty Beastmaster 8.5 Metre Magin Pole. :fishing1:

OK, a tiddler in Carp terms, but a jolly decent, commie puddle pig.

A fish that will undoubtedly have given you a run-around on pole gear and which was clearly good fun - but that's a very strange choice of bait for close in fishing.

I'd definitely have gone for something soft.

Yes Ken, I usually use Paste, Meat & corn close in, but these Robin Red hard pellets really are Magic & irresistible - The 8 mm ones & upwards are pre - drilled for Hair rig OR pulling the band through the hole. The drilled holed is very small though, so you need a suitably small hooked needle to pull the band through - otherwise the pellets break in half. (that's why on this occasion I banded it externally - I couldn't find my small hooked needle)

I use Drennan Power Bandits which are bands already tied to the Hair.
