Australia: Longest Cat-proof Fence

First, the world's longest dog proof fence, now this;-

Hopefully, it will help to improve the status of the critically endangered animals in there.

Many years ago, I shot a feral cat, some 100 km from any dwelling, in the Great Sandy Desert in Western Australia.

Had a conversation with my father last weekend who was telling me about some huge 4 mile square mile plot of land that some Aussie had fenced against cats to protect critically endangered wombats.

I pointed out that 4 mile square miles is nothing - blank.

I pointed out that wombats are not endangered - blank.

I pointed out that perhaps he was thinking of bilbies or quols - blank.

I suspect that you may not be on a winner here.

The northern hairy nosed wombat is on the world’s severely critical list, Here are about 250 left in the wild and 10 in a sanctuary.

Bobj,

Every other day I read where something is gobbling up OZ. I believe it (native residence) is on the tip of every Australians tongue. I admire your national unity even if it is for an animal with a hairy nose.

I'm sure we have some of them in Scotland.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Why do they have fences ,it should be funnels!

Where you have a plague of mice you funnel cats ,to many cats you funnel dingoes ,to many foxes you funnel the upper class ,to many upper class you shoot them then funnel all the rest to get rid of the evidence

I found the best way to avoid australian pests (we already have the aforementioned) is never to go anywhere near it mind you the gold has its draw but not enough to go nearer than the south of france

Nah, Cory, you mistake them for fleas with kilts and hairy knees.
