roach up in the water

The Flying Tench

Recommended Posts

I keep my casters in plenty of water in the tub on the bank so I can pick out the floaters for the hook instantly, can also put a #10 or dust shot just above the hook shank to make it slow sinking. (or slide this single shot up the line say 2 or 3 inches to alter the sink rate)

I used to see one guy years ago on a Lake fishing for Roach with caster using a Fly Rod with a floating Line, or maybe a slow sinking one?? (Not really Cricket, but he had a lot of success)

That was at Roundhay Park in Leeds, he was there most days I was, though we never spoke.

I watched with amazement an old guy down the pond taking roach and rudd (decent ones aswell) on nothing more than a cage feeder stuck into a cork with the hook hanging down about 9" ,he put feed in the feeder a maggot on the hook and swung it in ,5 seconds later the corked bobbed and he struck into the fish ,his mate next to him on a pole didnt have a bite!
