Nice to be anywhere really

On Monday morning I had a stroke (stop sniggering in the back)
This time it was horns and blue light into the hospital.
Rapid and first class treatment mean that permanent damage is very minor.
Had loads of tests and scans and it seems I suffer from a heart rhythm problem (Atrial Fibrillation) which caused a clot to form in my heart and then get fired up into my brain.
I also have a partial blockage in my carotid artery that feeds blood to my brain. This may require surgery in the not too distant future.
They let me out this afternoon, still a bit shaky, but so glad to be home.
I am taking so many pills at the moment that I rattle when I walk, but I am happy to put up with that.
Lessons learned?

  • Recognition and getting early treatment for stroke is IMPORTANT
  • I need to start taking my diabetes more seriously
  • I need to go fishing more often

Anyway, nice to be back

Sportsman,

Hang in there !  We are loosing "snowflakes" left and left (my preferential leaning).  You know. snowflakes are  those of us who are too emotionally vulnerable to cope with views that challenge our own.  I need your support.

Sorry to hear of your illness Dave, I'm glad to hear you're on the mend. As to lessons learned, I can understand the fishing one. We buried my brother, and one time fishing buddy, recently. Its made me determined to get back into angling, after putting it off for so long. We don't know what's around the next corner, so have to make the most of it.
Take care
John
Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Beg to differ chesters!! 5 year ago I had a Myocardial Infarction & Cardiac arrest  - Heart attack in layman's terms & spent 4 days on a life support machine.

The fantastic "Crash team" & subsequent specialist cardiac care lead by one Mr Chris Pepper saved my life by their prompt intervention - The NHS is a good place to be.

There are some good people there!! (contrary to popular?? belief)
