It always amuses me when it's considered a greater insult if you include 'black' in it.

If someone is call a tw*t, then it's an insult to the person, but include the adjective 'black' and it's thought of as an insult to millions. It doesn't apply if you say 'big tw*t, little tw*t, fat tw*t, bald tw*t, etc. It follows then that calling someone 'black' somehow magnifies the severity of the insult.

There again, you get the MoBOs, "black American...", etc, but they aren't considered as insults.

Strange old world we live in.

Why would one mention colour in the first place?

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Why would one mention colour in the first place?

I would have thought it was obvious, because it's an adjective, that describes the person. Just as big, little, bald, fat, etc, does.

If one said "all blacks, fatties, baldies, etc, were tw*ts, then I could see some logic in saying it was a slight on all the people it describes. Saying, "He is a black tw*t", is a personal insult, against that one particular person, not all those who share the same colour.

The same word can mean many different things. I depends on context, how it was said, what was meant by it.

Calling someone a black tw8*t could be an insult or a term of endearment.

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Would you use the adjective "yellow" for a Chinese person?

Would you use the adjective "yellow" for a Chinese person?

Why should I? The Chinese don't refer to themselves as yellow, we don't have 'Music Of Yellow Origin Awards', Yellow lives matter campaigns. And songs like 'Young gifted and Yellow', just wouldn't scan.

If they start calling each other yellow, then I probably would.

Is it ok for a black person to refer to another as black, or even for him to refer to a white person as white? But not ok for a white person to call the same black person black?

Double standards John,

Some folk seem to think only they can utter what they want to say without reproach, but others, as soon as they say as they see it, get jumped upon from an ivory coloured tower.

Double standards make me sick to my stomach :shutup:

Is darky still ok? After all we have stopped using mulatto for some reason ,half caste? ,after all Jamaicans dont like being called africans ,some elitist slavery pride i think?

Now it appears you can be a person of colour!!! Well perhaps not albinos they're 'goods' for harvesting methinks

Is a person 'of colour' any particular one? Or do you only need your great grt grt grandmother to be one who gets laid by another colour ?
