You would get on just fine where my son is living at the moment, at least in the winter. One can be pretty sure that it the temperature will not rise above freezing between mid-December until the end of February, but then you would suffer in the summer. Very hot and humid. He does have a HUGE lake next to him, his house is about 50 yards from the shore of Lake Michigan.

Poor thing living next to american but he probably likes it.

Hate anything over 20 degrees ,the only trouble with a decent bit of cold it makes the ground as hard as it is in the heat ,we need feet of rain over a fortnight or so

As for the lake big isnt good as we see sea fishing its not like the fish are corralled under your rod tip

Worse than that, not only does he have American neighbours he has a Spaniard as a house-mate.

I cut my teeth fishing on lakes, and you are right you have to learn the water and know where the fish are or at least where they are likely to be. Not so easy when it's five miles wide and twenty-five miles long.

At least these days you are allowed electric outboards, when I was a lad it was row, row, row your boat.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

The nearest i got to a boat as a kid was throwing stones at boaters crossing my line at crystal palace lake.

Did the chucking money down the drain owning a boat moored at pompey in the 80's ,we caught more using plastic inflatables at bognor!
