National Union of Students (NUS) Women’s conference in London this week, delegates were asked to refrain from applauding and use “jazz hands” instead. The request, which appeared on the Twitter feed of the Oxford University Student Union’s Women’s Campaign, was made because clapping was “triggering anxiety” amongst some conference members.

 

 

 

FFS get a grip ya set of freaking idiots. Pathetic.

The supposed idea is to reduce sensory overload and thus "anxiety" in people with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and therefore to make the event more accessible to all.
Sounds sweet but in reality, the presence of large crowds, amplified speakers and the sort of forced social interaction found at conferences is likely to make such people very uncomfortable anyway and trying not to respond naturally with applause where appropriate just makes the whole event stressful and forced for everyone.
The only winners are the loony left who are imposing such idiocy in the name of being "nice" or "politically correct" because for them it is just another step along the way to acclimating the masses to their authoritarian rule.
Don't think for yourself. Do what your new masters tell you.

If they all wore wooly gloves, then they could clap without making a lot of noise, simple.

 

They have a 'quieter hour' at our local supermarket, for the same reason as a the uni'. They turn off the muzak, the kids racing car ride, and the tannoy system, but the tills still beep every time an item goes through!

Do they exclude the kids?

We dont shop saturdays ,to many brats making a din and using the shops as playgrounds

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

It's on Saturday morning, 9-30 to 10-30 I think. They don't exclude anyone as far as I know, not even the guy with Tourettes, who's made me jump a few times, he tends to shout out, when stood behind you!
