Yes chesters, but only if you have an allotment - when there's a hosepipe ban in the summer, the license allows you to use it during the ban. Can get one from the Post Office according to a past allotment owning/Leasing acquaintance of mine.

I don't think one can own an allotment?? They are largely Council run.

This is very unusual but I find myself in the same midset as Sportsman!

There are far more people on the planet than dogs and people are a far greater threat to other people than any creature on the planet, especially dogs.

The only dangerous dogs are the dogs that have been put in the situation by it's owner.

Staffs are not bred for fighting either, not since the early 1900's at least.

Staffies are great loving pets, infact bull breeds are probably the most loyal and loving of all the dog breeds, that applies to pit bulls also!

As is so often said "it's not the dog it's the owner" and that's about right.

Ken, we only know what the media tell us and the media only tell us what they want us to know...do you believe everything you see, hear or read?

I think your a intelligent chap and i'm sure you don't.

At the end of the day if a dog doea attack someone pr something then there's a reason behind why it happened. Young kids are cruel and torment things, they do wierd stuff to animals also and in a way it's the fault of the parents who allow these things to happen.

I was brouught up on a farm and have had dogs around me all my life, belive me, if you have a dog and look after it, show it some love it will always love you back ten fold.

Things go pear shaped when they are owned by the wrong people.

I agree with you up to a point. Trouble is that you can also say that about guns or any number of other things and in the case of pit bulls, restricting them to the right people would reduce the global pit bull population by 99%.

All,

Just my off the cuff response to a legitimate social dilemma. (I haven't followed this thread, so forgive me). At least in the United States pit bull owners overwhelmingly are "not the right owners". Actually the most aggressive breed in the US is the Chow Chow. But no one likes them or owns them so there are few incidence.

Tough call - I'm no help to a solution although I have a mutt I love to death.
