I prefer my music a little more modern:

I could get into that after a bit. I look for two things in music. Musicians who can PLAY their instruments and singers who can sing songs with lyrics requiring good diction.

Excellent diction

Guy who can play his instruments

And both together

And if the singer is as pretty as Dorothy Dandridge, then even better.

I don't suppose you can get your head around katajjaq? Inuit throat singing. it's a game as wel as music. Only women participate in katajjaq. The first to laugh loses the game.

Nope - but I've kinda dabbled with the Mongolian/Tuvan versions since the days of John Peel and Andy Kershaw.

It's interesting that the shamanic traditions seem to be getting a revival further west as well:

Anyway, back a bit more in the direction that Andrew started this thread:

I had an hour or so to spare so I had a little trawl throgh UT to see if I could see anything that would really "grip my sh!t and I stumbled across this.

It's a great pity we never hear Andrew play. He often postphotos of the really nice guitars he owns, but he has never let us hear him play. Maybe the is just extremely modest ;-)

I love these modern vids as a youth you spent your two bob on a shiny bit of plastic and listened to it ,now you can play spot the film aswell ,way better as are mosts of the remixes!

Or the great eyed girl version

Or grey hair no eyes and bad taste in clothes

Even better you keep your two bob and take as much as you want because they are to stupid to protect it ,long gone are the days of fingers hovering on play and record on a sunday evening ,you take it because you can

Hopefullyb i will be buried with my tablet with earphones on by the time i get to the end the truth will be found ! Just need a pocket reactor to keep it running and someone to keep putting in the 64 gig memory cards for eternity
