Window ripening is old hat ,stick them in a drawer or box with a ripe banana or two

Not really, else they ripen faster than we eat them - greeny-red tomatoes waiting on a widow sill are a good form of short term storage. Fridge space is at a premium here !

All,

Your just kidding yourself with the "mixed fruit" ripening method. Ethylene is a gaseous plant hormone that regulates plant growth. When applied to fruits, it initiates the ripening process and causes the fruit to turn red. The chemical also affects the flavor by increasing sugar compounds and decreasing acidity within the fruit. This chemical is emitted naturally by plants in fields, but only when the plants naturally want to ripen.

The window is better and left on the vine (if that's an option) is best.

Putting a fruit which is emitting ethylene next to one which isn't will hasten the ripening process (though not as much as pumping the gas in from a cylinder). But usually with tomatoes there is a glut, and a slower drip of fruit is desirable. They taste better if ripened on the plant, until the plant snuffs it, when you may as well pick them.

Personally, I just turn the green ones into chutney!

Buy another fridge

 In my trout/bass/salmon/cod catching days I had a similar problem with freezers. Wound up with two of maximum size and no room for the car in the garage.....

Yes, I know, buy another garage
