I Still Have No Broadband...

Well, no broadband to speak of.

 

I got all excited a while back, thinking OpenReach had sorted it, but they haven't. I am now waiting for all the 'Permission To Dig' forms to be sent back to them from various parties until there's a chance they can run fibre to our house. Then, if we're lucky, they might be able to supply us with a working version of broadband.

 

This has gone on since before September. I'd still like to sort AN and these forums one day. I don't know where to start, to be honest, as everything is so out of date, but I'm not going to attempt a thing without a decent connection.

 

To make matters worse, the bloody great EE mast on our land just 'broke'. too, so we've had intermittent mobile/4G for days. You couldn't make it up!

You can have overhead fiber ,all the posts locally have a small yellow lable saying overhead fiber ,none do though ours hasnt been changed as the post is out of date thus they cannot climb it and they cannot get a cherry picker anywhere near it so its a lie!

Ubuntu 18.10 (Cosmic Cuttlefish) desktop ISO image (1,952,640 kB) direct download just under 2 minutes.

Well its easy for you to say that!

 

I get 12 Mbps here - fttc, but 2km of copper to the cabinet. Or possibly 2km of wet string!

 

I guess I have to pay for the view and the fishing.

 

Still, fast enough for work and Netflix, so I can live with it.

I get 2.5mb on a good day ,a bit of rain and a page times out before it loads so we give up .

I always get caught out by my sisters though the green box is next to her house so i sit twiddling my thumbs thinking updates are downloading at my speed when they finish a few seconds after clicking on them.

Its time we paid for what we get ,just had a cheeky email from bt ,if i pay more they will guarantee me 10mb the thing is they dont understand i already pay for up to 17 so i should get it anyway grrrr

I have com0ained more than once they garaunteed me 5mb at last moan but the magic word "connections" pops up to get them off the hook !
