Hello All,

I'm back to fishing after 20 years, 2 wives and 3 kids! (Still got 1 wife and the 3 kids are all still here as well, by the way!)

I remember fishing as chucking in bread or maggots and pulling out stripies, roach or bleak - it's changed a bit now eh? Boilies, pellets, method, flavouring......I'm confused.

Have joined Newbury Angling as live nearby and am hoping to bag my first ever barbel and chub this Winter so will be knockin' on the door asking for help from time to time if that's OK?

Cheers for now

Alistair

Thanks Stretpegger - just posted a question in the Coarse Forum re Barbel in The Kennet at Brimpton as follows:

Hi

I'm just back to fishing after 20 years and trying to catch up with all the new baits and techniques.

I've joined Newbury Angling and tried out the Brimpton stretch of the Kennet yesterday for the first time as I'd been told by someone I met that it was quite good for Barbel and Chub. I don't think the conditions were particularly good (very cold, bright and sunny) but I don't get many chances to fish so have to take them all!

I tried trotting bread crust and legering a boilie/halibut pellet with a small PVA bag. Not a sniff! dry.gif

Anyone out there got any experience of this stretch and could offer some advice please?

Thanks

Alistair

Welcome - I've been an NAA member for over 25 years - and reckon on knowing most of their waters - especially the river beats - pretty well. May not always reply on an open forum - so get upto 15 posts in order to activate your inbox!!
