Well, it turns out I`ve managed to blag a couple of tickets for the forthcoming REM tour and have decided to go to the one on the banks of Lomond. The plan is to camp up there for a few days after the gig and the temptation is to chuck some pike gear in the motor and give it a go. I was wondering if anyone knows if the Balloch area is any good for them this time of year? We`re probably staying a bit more north of Balloch but its a starting point.

All tastes to all folks Jeepster, REM have been my number one band since the mid 80`s.
I couldn`t get the time off to see them on the Green tour and the Sheffield gig I had tickets for in the 90s was cancelled so this will be a first for me!!

i saw them on the green tour and spent an hour yawning. still, as you say, all tastes to all folks, if we all liked the music i like, the charts would be full of nirvana, johnny cash and ben folds. much as i love those acts, i'm not sure that would be a good thing

i spent a day with bono recently and was gutted that he was actually a really nice guy. i hate U2 and the whole corporate rock ******** that they stand for, so i was really p1ssed off that he was a nice bloke.

I have fished Lomond many times at different spots and have had pike from all over it. As long as it has some obvious features such as weed or a bay, I imagine you should be able to get a run. Balmaha in my opinion is a self-fufilling place as almost everyone fishes there so a lot fo fish are caught there.
Of course the infamous Endrick Pike was found at balmaha (70lb estimated weight!)
I imagine the mouth of the Levin would be good as the fish run into the loch. Never tried it though.
The bad thing about Lomond is that its too near Glasgow and sometimes you turn up on the banks to find litter or worse dead pike
We once found five all high doubles left in a pile.
If I am going to Lomond at a weekend I usually hope for a miserable week to keep the scumbags away from the water.
