I was fishing my lake yesterday. I have been catching some quality Roach and Rudd recently and that continued yesterday.
There are an awful lot of carp in there, mostly small but some up to upper double so I thought I would put out a sleeper rod with a method feeder. Usual bait would be sweetcorn but I thought I would give Phone's Puffs a try. They were fished hair rigged and popped up on a 4" hook length. The interesting thing is they seemed to be quite selective on size, picking up a larger average sized fish including 4 upper doubles and my biggest ever fish from the lake, a 24lb mirror. In all I must have had 30+ carp on them.
I tried them when I first got them and was worried that they didn't stay on the hook well. Since then they got damp and dried out and they stay on the hair much better. They are a bait that look as if they will catch fish and I will be fishing them on at least one rod next week when I have been invited to a big fish lake.

Sportsman,

Congratulations! Welcome to the dark side - carp and puffs. I was just sure you had eaten them yourself.

Quite a bait, aren't they?
