i have a small lobster pot & would like to catch some signals.
i live in the somerset/dorset/devon area. does anyone know any stretches of river where they might be? does anyone know the legality of doing so? -------------------- ou est le blaireau, si vous plait ?

It's illegal to trap any species of crayfish without a licence see. This should be stated somewhere on the EA web site, but I can't find it right now.

cheers lid, strange, the idea of eating signals would mean there are less of them to hassle our native ones, you would think the ea would encourage it?
didnt stop john wilson putting a trap down on telly though, he didn't mention a licence, maybe they can go round & nick him now

If you caught signal crays by accident you would be breaking the law if you released them back in to the water ways.
They should be humanely destroyed..... |

Just tie a animal carcass to a rope chuck it in a water know to contain signals and every half hour drag it in, you will catch a few.
Best done at night. |

does a dead badger count as a trap from the e.a. point of view or could you just say you were teaching it to swim & it must have drowned
